Boon Swan Foo, Executive Chairman of Exploit Technologies, appointed as Chairman of D-SIMLAB Technologies Pte Ltd

D-SIMLAB Technologies Pte Ltd (“D-SIMLAB”) announced today the appointment of Mr Boon Swan Foo, a leading Singaporean business figure, as the Chairman of the Board. Mr Boon Swan Foo (left) is Executive Chairman of Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd, the strategic marketing and commercialisation arm of Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Mr Boon has held various high-level roles in both the public and private sectors, including the positions of Managing Director of A*STAR and Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd, where he was awarded the Singapore Business Award for Outstanding CEO in 2000. Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd runs an Aerospace subsidiary, known as ST Aerospace, which is the world’s leading third party aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) specialist.

With operations established in key aviation hubs in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, ST Aerospace is one of two MRO providers in the world with a global network. Mr Boon served a term as its President.

Mr Boon is also the Deputy Chairman of OrangeStar Investment Holdings Pte Ltd, under which Jetstar and Valuair, the two budget airlines in Singapore, are held by Qantas and Temasek. Mr Boon’s vast experience in the aerospace industry is further augmented with him serving as the Chairman of Singapore Changi Airport Enterprise Pte Ltd and Chairman of Changi Airport Managers & Partners (S) Pte Ltd. Additionally, Mr Boon currently serves on the boards of Neptune Orient Lines Limited (NOL), Singapore Computer Systems Limited, Shin Corporation Plc, and several other private limited companies.

He is also a Senior Advisor of Temasek Holdings, as well as Advisor of ST Engineering Ltd. Mr Boon is a Member of Motorola Inc Research Visionary Board, a Member of the Commercialisation Advisory Board, Imperial College (UK) and was previously a Member of the Dean’s Council of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. D-SIMLAB started out as an incubatee of Exploit Technologies before it graduated after successfully securing a round of investment from Imprimatur Capital, an international technology investor. During the incubation period of 15 months the team at Exploit Technologies had worked closely with D-SIMLAB and supported the company in business development and fund raising. Mr Boon’s wealth of experience in various businesses, especially his acute understanding of the aerospace industry, will be a boost to D-SIMLAB as it grows its operations as a provider of high-performance, simulation-based decision-support solutions for high value asset management in aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing and container terminal operations. Mr Boon Swan Foo, the Executive Chairman of Exploit Technologies, and Chairman of D-SIMLAB said, "I am delighted to join D-SIMLAB as the Chairman of the Board.

Exploit Technologies has seen D-SIMLAB grown over the years. This Singapore company has demonstrated great resourcefulness and potential by securing a few major projects since its graduation from incubation. Recently, D-SIMLAB forged strong partnership with big players like OEMServices, Official Airline Guide (OAG) and a leading German semiconductor manufacturer. Going forth, I am confident that we can continue to leverage A*STAR’s technology to bring D-SIMLAB’s business to a new height, and make an impact in different industry verticals, in both the Singapore and overseas markets."

Dr Peter Lendermann, Chief Executive Officer of D-SIMLAB said, “Being grateful that Mr Boon has been providing great support to D-SIMLAB already from its preincubation days, his appointment as our Chairman has now added another dimension to the already outstanding collaboration between Exploit Technologies and our company. His valuable experience and dense network with relevant top-level decision-makers not only in Singapore but across the entire globe will also give a lot of momentum to our business development efforts; we therefore consider Mr Boon’s appointment as a major milestone on D-SIMLAB’s development path towards a high profile global company.”
