Architecture & Data Management

D-SIMSPAIR has been designed for use either stand-alone or on top of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The various D-SIMSPAIR modules can be hosted either by D-SIMLAB or on an external Cloud or on a server within the customer’s domain.

The D-SIMSPAIR Master Data Module (MDM) is used to consolidate from a multitude of sources of different format (and quality) and manage the input data required to execute the various D-SIMSPAIR use cases. Within the MDM there are functions to extract data from legacy systems, combine multiple data sources, transform them into the D-SIMSPAIR data model, handle inconsistencies and rectify errors. For each use case the desired input data can be selected and loaded into different scenarios to be analysed.

Integration of multiple RSPL and In-Scope files comprises consolidation of modification standards and interchangeability constraints as well as resolution of conflicting information for parameters such as Quantity per Aircraft (QPA), Essentiality Code (ESS), Repair Turnaround Time, Mean Time between Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR), Scrap Rate, Reorder Leadtime, typically required for all part numbers appearing in more than one RSPL.

The D-SIMSPAIR modules can also be integrated with an SAP system through an SAP/D-SIMSPAIR Integration Interface (SII) which is built on web service technology that enables seamless data exchanges, without the need of exporting data to input data files that would then have to be uploaded separately. The SII queries two types of data from the SAP system that are fed into D-SIMSPAIR: (i) field data such as demand, repair return and scrap events, (ii) operational data such current inventory on hand, allocation and status, (iii) master data such as part information. The SII also enables D-SIMSPAIR to commit data back to the SAP system, reflecting an operational decision made by the User. The committed data requires an approval of the SAP data administrator through the SAP WorkBench GUI. The approved data is transformed to either a Stock Purchase Order for procurement of a part number or Stock Transfer Order for transferring of a particular unit from one location to another.

The SAP/D-SIMSPAIR Integration Interface is based on standard SAP interfaces (ABAP-Add-On) and is SAP Netweaver certified.
